Family Lifestyle Blog STEM Activities for Kids
Hi, I’m Sindhu — Creator of S3M Studio, a family lifestyle blog focused on STEM activities for kids, food art, and creative living where creativity meets real life.
S3M — three S’s and an M.
S3 stands for the three S’s in our family — Sindhu, Samirah and Savannah. A mum and her two girls who somehow end up in the kitchen together more often than anywhere else.
M is for Mahesh — my husband, who contributes to this whole operation by enthusiastically eating everything I make and asking if there’s more.
S3M Studio started with a simple problem: I had a picky eater on my hands.
My older daughter Samirah, now 12, refused almost every vegetable that came her way. Out of love — and a little desperation — I started turning her meals into something she couldn’t resist. A plate of broccoli became a tiny forest. A piece of toast became a lion’s face. And just like that, dinner went from a battle to the best part of our day.
From 2015 to 2019, I made food art almost every single day. The plate became our canvas. Ordinary ingredients became the art. And mealtimes became the moments I treasure most with my firstborn.
Now my youngest Savannah is 4, and the whole adventure is beginning again — this time with twice the joy, twice the mess, and twice the magic.
But S3M Studio is about more than just food art.
It has grown into a family lifestyle blog where STEM activities for kids, creativity, and everyday parenting come together in a real and relatable way.
Food became the bridge between two worlds for our family.
My girls were born in Seattle. India — Kerala — is something they know through us. Through stories. Through phone calls with grandparents. Through the smell of coconut oil in the kitchen. And through food art.
Every Indian festival became an opportunity. For Onam I recreated King Mahabali on a banana leaf. For Navratri two dancers twirled in strawberry lehengas. For Republic Day I mapped India in the colours of the tricolour. For Diwali, Vishu, Christmas — every celebration, the plate became the classroom.
Samirah has learned about India through these plates. She and Savannah love getting dressed in traditional attire — just for photos, not to wear all day — but the joy on their faces is everything.
Honestly? The festival food art is as much for me as it is for them. It keeps me connected to Kerala even from Seattle. Every plate is a little act of love for the home I carry inside me.
By day I lead global technology teams across the US, Canada and India. By evening I’m in the kitchen turning idli into art and chapathi into the map of a country I want my daughters to love as much as I do. Somehow both feel equally creative.
That balance is what shapes this family lifestyle blog — combining STEM activities for kids, creative food art, and practical ideas for modern working parents.
